The uninspired loss caps off the Nittany Lions (9-6-2, 3-1-0 Big Ten) first losing weekendheading into the new year. Curtis Loik tallied Penn States lone goal of the game just four minutes into the third, but the goal was not enough to spark a comeback for the Nittany Lions. Penn State was able to keep Western Michigan close in the shot count, only behind 10-9 through 20 minutes of play.
