UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Freshman Dylan Richard (Sherwood Park, Alta) netted his first career goal, while classmate David Goodwin (Des Peres, Mo.) and sophomore Curtis Loik (North Vancouver, B.C.) also reached the back of the net, as the Nittany Lion men’s hockey team skated to a 3-3 tie against RIT at Pegula Ice Arena Friday night.
Penn State (1-2-1), which tied for the first time in its two-year NCAA history, took an early 1-0 lead with Richard’s marker before the Tigers (0-3-2) responded with a pair of power-play goals to take a one-goal advantage. Goodwin tied the game with an extra-man strike 15:21 into the second period, before Loik’s tally gave Penn State a 3-2 lead with 11:13 left in regulation.
