Born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada, Kenny Brooks played his youth hockey for the Las Vegas Outlaws. It was through the Outlaws that he honed his skills, turning him into an eventual United States Hockey League standout with the Tri-City Storm. He played for Tri-City for three seasons before moving on to Hockey Valley and becoming a Penn State Nittany Lion.
