No matter the quality of competition, voyaging to Alaska and claiming the better part of a two-game wishbone is always a lofty ambition.
The Nittany Lions did just that on their second attempt in program history. And they did it by flexing the better part of their energy in the tone-setting and truth-settling bookends of the series.
They shook off Alaska-Anchorage’s comeback from a 2-0 deficit to finalize a 5-2 repression on Friday. They followed that by running up a 19-6 shooting advantage and nabbing the equalizer for Saturday’s 1-1 draw.
