Three Big Ten teams will skate in tournaments at National Hockey League venues this weekend. Michigan and Michigan State will take part in the 50th annual Great Lakes Invitational (GLI), scheduled for Dec. 28-29 at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Mich., site of the 2015 Big Ten Tournament. The Wolverines lead all schools with 15 GLI titles while the Spartans are second with 12 championships. Michigan last won the event in 2011 while Michigan State last did so in 2009. Meanwhile, Penn State will skate in the Three Rivers Classic at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. The Nittany Lions advanced to the championship game of the event last season.
