BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Penn State women’s hockey team scored three of the game’s final four goals to defeat Vermont, 4-2, on Saturday afternoon at Gutterson Fieldhouse. Hannah Hoenshell (Plano, Texas) tallied a game-high three points on a goal and two excellent assists, while freshman Laura Bowman (Minnetonka, Minn.) scored her first two collegiate goals. Hoenshell was a game-high plus-four, while Bowman and fellow linemate Amy Petersen (Minnetonka, Minn.) carded plus-three ratings.
Sophomore goaltender Celine Whitlinger (Garden Grove, Calif.) saved 37 Catamount shots as Penn State went 1-0-1 in its season-opening series. The Nittany Lions improved to 2-1-1 all-time against Vermont (0-1-1).
